I have 16 years experience working with adults who have experienced sexual trauma and sexual healing at the Sexual Assault Center in Nashville. I also have experience working with Military Sexual Trauma through the Veterans Administration and work with the resulting addiction/substance/eating issues as well as depression and anxiety that arise as a result. I too am a trauma survivor, and I have great compassion for your journey. It would be a privilege to work with body, mind, emotional and spiritual issues that arise as a result of your trauma.

The resulting side effects of sexual trauma are: anxiety, depression, out of control emotions, dissociation, sexual behaviors that you question, anger, irritability, lack of trust, shame and guilt. These are all normal as a result of the trauma you've experienced. Additionally, due to the overwhelm, eating disorders, alcohol and drug addiction, even people are used as coping mechanisms to numb. Our work is to restore your sense of self, to give you a sense of wholeness. You may also choose to restore the sexuality you lost as a result of the trauma. The Sex Therapist designation I am attaining through the University of Michigan, in connection with the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) gives us a further roadmap to restore what you've lost. Working with all parts of you including mind, body, emotions and spirit is key to your healing process, as is the safe environment that we create as you do your healing work. I already know how nervous you are just getting started. We slow down, breathe, and go at your pace to create safety.
